Padmavati: Bollywood Epic Film Overriding to Release in U.S., Globally Out Of India

The studio will be strewing its first bollywood movie, a historical drama that’s co-produced by director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s banner and Viacomi8 Motion pictures. The topmost pictures will be distributing the Bollywood legend film; Padmavati in the U.S. and overseas markets outside country India day-and-date with the 1st Dec opening of the film in India. This is the first time that paramount will be distributing a bollywood film.

The movie is co-produced by director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s banner named Bhansali productions and Viacom 18 motion pictures. The film casts the xXx: Return of Xander Cage actress; Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh. The most awaited titles of the year “Padmavati” will be released in India by Viacom 18 motion pictures. The movie circles around the ceremonial character of queen Padmavati (starring Deepika), from Rajasthan, and her husband who is Mahawrawal Ratan Singh (Shahid), and he battled the Mughal invader Sulatn Alauddin Khilji (Ranvir).

In 2008, Leela Bhansali first directed the film Padmavati as an opera, for the Theatre Du Chatelet in Paris that was based on the 1923 opera penned down by Albert Rousselan. The production of Bhansali travelled to Rome and also was performed at the festival of Spoleto in Italy. Bhansali who is one of the most acclaimed directors of India, is known for its blockbuster signature productions, like 2015’s Bajirao Mastani that resides on the historical figures and also casted Sing and Padukone.

Megan colligan, the paramount pictures president in worldwide distribution and marketing said; “Padmavati has all the makings of a hit film and we are excited to bring Sanjay’s incredible vision to audiences across the international market place.” The COO of Viacom 18 Motion Pictures also added; “This is first-ever such collaboration with Paramount Pictures releasing a Viacom18 Hindi feature across international markets. With Paramount coming on board, we will take the film to a whole new level globally.” Though details about the U.S. film screen count still awaits.

Andrew Cripps the international president said; “Bollywood films are gaining popularity in various international territories and the market is only growing. Viacom18 are making some very interesting movies and if there is potential in some of them we’d be happy to look at that opportunity.”
