Sanath Jayasuriya is Sri Lankan legend who was a master blaster and a prior captain of the Sri Lanka’s national cricket team. One of the best players in ODI of all time, Sanath Jayasuriya is also recognized for his mind-blowing striking and match-winning performances, he was an all-rounder in the One Day International cricket series.

In the year 1996, Sanath Jayasuriya had played a major role when Sri Lanka played in the finals of the World Cup for the first time in the subcontinent of India. In his career, the legendary player had scored 6,973 runs and in Test cricket, he took 98 wickets in total. He also gathered 13,430 runs and took 323 wickets in ODIs. Talking about T20s, he made 629 runs and 19 wickets in his account.
Having succeeded Arjuna Ranatunga, Sanath Jayasuriya from the year 1999 to 2003 was also the captain of the Sri Lankan team. With Sri Lanka’s exit in the semi-finals of the 2003 World Cup, which was hosted by South Africa, his journey came to an end. As the leader of the selection board, he had twice served on the Sri Lankan Cricket Board committee.
